The crowds at CityPlace, especially on weekends, and the chaotic parking garage
(there’s always valet, though) might make this seem like an inconvenient
choice, but somehow the madness restores the glory to seeing a new release in
a grand old movie palace. Climbing up and then down the stairs and looking up
at the gaudy, cherub-filled rotunda makes you wonder if you’ve entered a
palace for angel freaks rather than a movie theater. But soon, you’re directed
to one of the fine auditoriums, with lush seats, large screens, clear digital
sound and spectacular unobstructed views, and you forget that the décor
outside looks like something Marie Antoinette did on a bad day. The theater even
has a bar, if you wish to imbibe before or after the screening. Take a few steps
outside, and you’ll find a handful of fine restaurants to make dinner and
a movie quite convenient.
