While other bookstores have reduced their schedules to little more than book discussion groups and financial-planning seminars, Books and Books, owned by Mitch Kaplan, continues to bring in Florida authors such as James W. Hall, Jonathon King and Tim Dorsey and world-famous writers such as Zadie Smith and Chuck Palahniuk. Recently, Books and Books was the only South Florida bookstore to host Bill Clinton on his tour promoting his autobiography,
My Life. The Coral Gables store also recently added a bar and a courtyard showcasing live music.
