The sunny, pistachio-colored Sloan’s got some national press back in June when Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry dropped by after a stump speech. Kerry drank a coffee milkshake during a half-hour stay, but he did not use then bathroom. That’s too bad, because a bathroom as lauded as Sloan’s merits a visit from the prospective commander in chief. Before President Kerry — make that candidate Kerry — came along, Sloan’s was known not only for its 47 flavors of ice cream but for having the world’s best bathroom, as determined by the Travel Channel. The stylish crapper has transparent doors that fog up when you close them, and the walls are artfully finished with images of flamingos, ice-cream sundaes and a throne. The single white porcelain toilet sits on black tiles spotted by flower cutouts. Come Nov. 2, the only thing missing, unfortunately, will be a sign that reads, “President John Kerry peed here.” They can always invite him back.
