Best Park Broward
Markham Park
16001 W. State Road 84, Sunrise, 954/389-2000, www.broward.org/parks
By land, water and air, the 666-acre Markham Park has pretty much everything
you could ever hope for in a public park. The grounds feature 86 sites for camping,
all with water and electricity; five picnic pavilions with grills; an equestrian
trail; a mountain bike trail; a tennis and racquetball center; a biking and jogging path; volleyball courts; and an outdoor gun range. As if reading all
that doesnt leave you breathless, the water-based activities include a
swimming pool complex, freshwater fishing and two boat ramps that provide access
to the Everglades Conservation Area. You can also look skyward from the Fox
Observatory, or from the model-airplane field, which is far enough away from
the target range that you dont have to worry about your baby Cessna being
shot down.
