With a motto like “Girls Gettin’ Wet,” the Sassy Surf club deserves
a certain amount of attention no matter what its members are up to. But the
Deerfield Beach-based crew has already become a touchstone for local surfer
girls, whether they just want someone to talk to between waves or are looking
to hook up with a carpool to make treks to New Smyrna Beach. Meeting once a
month, they ride when there are waves or just paddle around when it’s flat.
The chat rooms alone on their Web site are invaluable for anyone on the surf
scene. Note: Men are welcome, the site notes, “But you’re not our
focus.”
