Once again, we asked resident expert J. Logan Pierson, extreme-sports nut and
maker of the documentary
YX? Why Extreme? Take it, Logan: “I’d say
Pompano Indoor Skate Park is best for a variety of reasons. First off, it’s
got a huge variety of activities; not only does it yield some of the best BMX
riding of any skate park in the area, it also hosts weekend concerts just about
every Friday and Saturday night, which makes it very popular. The main reason I like it is that it allows both skateboarders and BMXers the opportunity to
go big, which is rare in most skate parks. Most skate parks are set up solely
for skateboarding and therefore do not easily lend themselves to BMXing. It
also is a very fun atmosphere; I’ve been there filming some nights when
you have an awesome screamo band playing on one side of the park and not more
than 20 feet away are some of the area’s best BMXers and skaters going
huge. In my opinion, it doesn’t get better than that: live music, adrenaline-packed
stunts. Really a neat place to be.”
