The only park in South Florida with a world-class velodrome for serious cyclists
and inline skaters also has a skate park where extreme Rollerbladers, skateboarders
and BMX bikers risk bodily harm. The velodrome’s 333-meter cycling track
and 200-meter banked inline ramp serves as frequent host to competitive events,
including next month’s state cycling championship. It also offers rentals
and classes for inexperienced riders who want to sample the high-banked oval.
The skate park dares thrill junkies to get airborne from wooden ramps. BMX biking
is offered on Tuesdays only. The park also serves runners and walkers with three
paths of varying length that don’t require a helmet for participants.
