What with the utter lack of anything even resembling a hill or, dare we say,
a mound, in South Florida, you might notice an unsurprising absence of rock-climbing.
But being the resourceful and active souls that we are, it was only a matter
of time before someone artificially remedied the situation. The folks at Coral
Cliffs have dozens of indoor climbing surfaces that can satisfy the novice or
the professional. While the beginner can find gentle climbs with plenty of hand-
and footholds, the expert can tackle walls with overhangs and arches and few
places to get a grip. Full-time membership rates vary, but a day pass costs
$15. Expect to pay a little extra cash to take classes if you need instruction
— and you will. This ain’t as easy as Tom Cruise made it look in
Mission:
Impossible 2.
