Every year, this organization collects about 17 million pounds of food and distributes
it to 800 other charities in South Florida. Forty-three percent of the food
goes to children; another 12 percent goes to people 65 and older who would probably
suffer from malnutrition without the help. The Daily Bread staff welcomes the
involvement of kind souls, and not just those willing to write a check for this
worthy cause. The group hopes you will become involved in more-personal ways,
and doing so can actually be fun. Try volunteering for one of Daily Bread’s
dinner dances or silent auctions, or spend a few hours per month counting and
sorting the mountain of food supplies waiting to be shipped out.
