Name Brand's trade is beats, and with the touch of a few buttons on his treasured MPC2000, he can get a crowd on its feet and have them begging for more. Fortunately this Miamian, who also performs with Brimstone127, has more than 100 original beats at his disposal. Unlike most beatmakers, Name Brand doesn't confine his talent to the studio and has garnered a reputation for his improvisational club performances. "Many of those guys just go onstage, hand the DJ a CD and flow on that," he explains. "Now, I'm not knocking those cats, but what I do is a live show. I sequence the beat on the spot, and if I didn't know what I was doing, you would hear the mistakes right there, live."
