Using the cadences of a preacher, Miami-Dade County native Bell pulls listeners in with his words, challenging them to cast off the shackles of poverty and violence. Bell began his spoken-word career five years ago when a friend invited him to an open mike at Alligator Alley in Fort Lauderdale. After the show, Bell started listening to a CD by New Jersey poet Lamar Hill and contemplating his own place on the spoken-word circuit. Since then, he has used his poetry to spread good will and raise the consciousness of people about their community.
