Whether pairing with Ethan Schwartz and South Florida Jams for the Langerado Music Festival or putting together the yearly Jam Cruise, Mark Brown and Brown Coffee Productions have done everything in their power to bring the jam to South Florida. The fifth installments of both Langerado and the Jam Cruise will hit South Florida in 2007, and the cruise, slated for Jan. 2-7, will feature more than two dozen acts, including such luminaries as reggae legend Burning Spear, jam-band favorites Umphrey's McGee and Galactic, and a reunited Greyboy Allstars. Passengers will see all these bands while cruising to the Turks and Caicos Islands and Cayo Levantado, off the coast of the Dominican Republic. The Jam Cruise has been so successful that a host of imitators has cropped up -- the rock cruise, the metal cruise, the sitar-and-viola cruise and so on. But none of them tops the original.
