Bizaare Avenue Café

Slightly off the well-trekked path, this café sits inside a designated historic building erected in 1926. The dining-and-drinks operation looks like a cross between an English tea spot and a fancy vintage store, and it's many a local's favorite undiscovered hangout. Dine on treats and tapas like crepes, goat cheese and marinara, and lobster bisque, or enjoy complimentary chicken quesadillas at happy hour. The bar features a long list of wines, as well as a bit of the bubbly. Happy hour is offered at the bar only and gets you two-for-one on well and draft drinks.

Happy hour: 5-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday

Recommended drink: Bizaare, a California Merlot

Location: 921 Lake Ave., Lake Worth (561/588-4488; Bizaareavecafe.com)

Blue Martini

With locations at West Palm Beach's CityPlace and Fort Lauderdale's Galleria Mall, the Blue Martini is a fashionably casual venue for drinking and mingling. Have a cocktail on the way to a movie -- both bars are situated near theaters -- or after a day of shopping. Both spots offer nightly drink specials and live music.

Bonds

This British restaurant and club offers tasty and imaginative menu items at reasonable prices. The designer burgers are served with Brie, bacon or caramelized onions, while baguettes get stuffed every which way, including a "cheeky" chicken tikka with a mint-yogurt sauce and a vegetarian Philly. Wednesday through Saturday, the bar stays open until 4 a.m. with a DJ and dancing. Ladies drink free Wednesday nights, and Fridays and Saturdays feature the License To Thrill party with the best of the '80s and '90s.

Carrabba's Italian Grill

Offering casual Italian dining that doesn't seem as if it comes from a chain restaurant, Carrabba's provides an atmosphere of dark wood, hanging grapevines (OK, they're plastic) and a wood-fired oven that could make an Italian grandmother sing, "That's Amore." Try the Mezzaluna ravioli or the Italian chicken pizza, which takes your taste buds to a place Domino's never will.
