Free coffee for the public, free meals for police and support staff at McDonald's on Monday.

Florida restaurants are giving away free meals to police personnel in honor of National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on Monday, Jan. 9.

Police officers and support staff can stop in at participating restaurants for a free breakfast, lunch or Extra Value Meal dinner with badge or ID.

Also, get a the free McCafe coffee during "Coffee With a Cop" events being held at select locations (Coral Springs, Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Miramar, Miami Gardens, Doral and Miami) to "show their appreciation and support for the police officers that bravely serve their communities," says a news release. Check with your local police department to see if it's participating.

No purchase is necessary.

South Floirda officers certainly earned their stripes during the Fort Lauderdale Airport shooting, so here's a chance to say thanks for protecting our community not only during the crisis, but every day of the year.
