Dicey Riley's
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301 954-522-2202 You'll thank your lucky charms, er, stars when you hit the ultrapopular watering hole Dicey Riley's in Fort Lauderdale's Himmarshee Village. An actual Irishman owns this authentic pub, and steel-bellied locals as well as out-of-towners haunt the spot in true Erin go bragh fashion. The full liquor bar and dining area has an out-of-Fort Lauderdale feeling, and framed photos of old-time Hollywood starlets and comedians on the walls add to that pub feel. On a recent Saturday night, the entire place was singing along to Joan Jett's "I Love Rock 'n' Roll." OK, it's not exactly Irish but a rowdy crowd pleaser nonetheless. As everyone sang about putting another dime in the jukebox, people were stacked this close at the bar for their next round of Guinness.
The mixed bunch of 20- and 30-somethings may feel like a junior high reunion, but it comes off more as just ordinary times at Dicey's. In addition to canned tunes, the pub offers live music most nights, from traditional Irish bands to funk, rock and the occasional jam band. It also has a full kitchen, which serves up yummy dinner specials, such as the very un-Irish lasagna, and standard pub treats like fish and chips.
