The walls tell a story: a map of Italy, a picture of the New York City skyline and a painting of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. Frank Sperduto, the restaurant's namesake, passed through Staten Island in the '50s and '60s, establishing a Staten Island version of his restaurant before moving to South Florida and establishing this eatery in 1972. The wood-paneled walls, linoleum floors, red-and-white vinyl tablecloths and little green San Pellegrino water bottles stuffed with silk carnations all say: You're welcome here; don't be intimidated.
