I haven't been here in a long while and I know why-you don't get your money's worth.I ordered the Ahi Tuna Salad. Sure, I got lots of leaves-but 4 bland slices of raw tuna. The waitress said that the way the tuna is prepared blandly is because others e-mailed with complaints. So for $16 you get tastleless tuna. Gee, how pleasant. Good-bye J Alexanders.

I was very happy to take my out of state guest to this restaurant. Patrick, our server and his assist. were very accommodating! My cheeseburger was perfectly done, with a real ripe tomatoe, nice green lettuce, and a side of sauteed spinach which I opted for. Her grilled chicken salad had tender strips of chicken, and filled with beautiful romaine, etc..Those fresh crossants they serve you are great! ALways consistent and professional! Luv the place! We live about 3 minutes and have probably gone here at least 30 times since they've opened. I've never had a bad meal and have had most things on the menu. For lighter fair their burgers are excellent as well as the French dip. The best side dish is their mac and cheese made with croutons, macaroni and gruyere cheese. Their salads are huge. Drinks are not cheap with cheap glasses of wine around $6.00 or $7.00. I would rate them higher if their drink and steak prices were more reasonable.

After hearing about this restaurant from co-workers, I decided to try it out - not a good idea! The staff was very rude, the restaurant was not clean at all and the food was all overcooked. Save your money and time for some of the other great places in town.

Chicago,
Hard to believe this is part of a chain. Great variety and everything is enjoyable.

I ate there last year for father's day. The waitress treated our table unevenly, didn't take the orders correctly and stayed away. She never came back to ask how the meal was and my father's wasn't right. We had two seniors and one very small child. We were interracial too. I felt she had a problem with someone at our table and when I told the manager she said that would never happen. There was no apology, no explanation for the sketchy service. None of us will ever go there again.

In my opinion, J. Alexander's is the best of the three restaurants in the immediatly surrounding area. Though the menu was quite limited, the wait time was minimal, the service was good, and the atmosphere was very comfortable. It was a little hard to make a selection from the few items on the menu, but the food arrived quickly delivered by a pleasant server. This is not an exceptional restaurant, but I will go there again.
