Fernanda's is the original standard-bearer of gourmet markets in Broward County, and it has yet to be surpassed after more than 20 years. You enter aisles of condiments -- spices, jarred sauces, olive oils and balsamic vinegars, among them -- that can inspire any home cook. In the back of the store, there are prepared foods for take-out, and you can choose from a menu of about two dozen sandwiches. The proscuitto with fresh mozzarella stands out. Breakfast is also served, and there are a couple of aisles devoted to mostly Italian and Californian wines.

Hours: 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday. noon-4 p.m. Sunday
