Sima's Place 1664 S. Federal Highway Delray Beach, FL 561-330-6464 Takeout service: Sima and Meir Mizrahi, former residents of Israel, took over the old Tout Sweet location about 10 months ago and business hasn't stopped thriving. That's because they put their hearts and souls into their work. Sure, the salads and sandwiches are good, but my favorite reason for visiting is a double espresso ($2.50) partnered with a homemade dessert. Look around and you'll find everything from clear cups glistening with rosewater gelatin (with or without pistachios, $2) in the refrigerated case to counters laden with pastries. If owner Sima Mizrahi waits on you, consider yourself lucky because you'll get the full "tour" of all the Mediterranean pastries she makes by hand. Try a slice of cake called malabi ($2), a dense, delicious concoction made with farina, honey and rosewater. And, for baklava fans, Sima's version is worth the trip. The phyllo is crisp and fresh. She takes it to new heights by adding a triple dose of nuts -- pecans, walnuts and almonds. A light honey/lemon syrup adds just enough sweetness without saturating it to sugary extremes. A regular slice is $2.50; the round version with the pistachios is $3.75 per piece. -- Judith Stocks (August 24, 2005) Hours: 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
