The Thunderbirds, the US Air Force air demonstration squadron, flew over Kogalniceanu airport, near Constanta, 155 miles east of Bucharest, on June 8, 2011, during a Romanian-US air show. The United States and Romania are negotiating the purchase of second-hand F-16 combat aircraft.
