The outdoor mall is situated in downtown Fort Lauderdale on the banks of the New River, and what used to be a dirt road is now a gathering spot for tourists and locals alike. Under the Spanish tile roofs are shops, restaurants, bars, clubs and a movie theater, all located around an open-air courtyard with pushcart merchants and a bandshell featuring live music on select nights. West of Riverfront is the Himmarshee District, an historic area jam-packed with busy bars and restaurants. To the east is Las Olas Boulevard, a broad avenue landscaped with shade trees and flowers that features shops and restaurants.
