You'll see giraffes striding, elephants playing, lions lazing and more animals behaving in their natural environment. Plus if it's hot or rainy you'll be happily inside your car. Lion Country Safari actually offers two parks in one: The 500-acre drive-through wildlife preserve and an amusement park. New to the park is a 4,000-square-foot children's wet play area. The wildlife preserve, the U.S.'s first drive-through cageless zoo, contains more than 1000 types of animals from around the world. At the Safari World amusement park, enjoy free rides, games, a petting zoo, nature walks, animal demonstrations and feedings. You can also wake up to the roar of lions by camping at the Safari's modern, full-service KOA campground, adjacent to the wildlife preserve. Facilities include: Full hook-up, shady pull-through sites with concrete patios and picnic tables. There is a general store, gas-heated swimming pool, handicapped accessible restrooms, shuffle board, basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, playgrounds, laundry, picnic area and pavilion. (January 11, 2006) Notes: Convertibles or soft-top vehicles are not permitted into the preserve. Rental vehicles are available for a nominal fee of $8.00 per 1 1/2 hours. Pets not permitted. Kennels are available for a $5 fully refundable deposit.
