The Welcome Center is the starting point for the popular walking tours of South Beach's Architectural Historic District. Conducted by the Miami Design Preservation League, the 90-minute tour along Ocean Drive and beyond is lead by local historians and architects, who recount the area's colorful past and identify notable features of Art Deco (ever heard of a ziggurat?) and Mediterranean Revival building styles. The Welcome Center also houses a gift shop, full of funky wares and posters, and a small museum in the auditorium, which features historical photos and collectibles.
