'The Young and the Restless' in Coconut Creek

Members of the Newman and Fenmore families are heading to the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek for The Young and the Restless Soap Opera Festival on Aug. 12.

The 75-minute show, which starts at 8 p.m., will feature four actors: Amelia Heinle (who plays Victoria Newman), Christian LeBlanc (Michael Baldwin), Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters) and Tracey E. Bregman (Lauren Fenmore Baldwin). The actors will be taking part in a question-and-answer session with fans.

For the uninitiated, the soap was launched in 1973 by William J. Bell and Lee Philip Bell for CBS. The show has chronicled the dramatic stories of dueling wealthy families the Newmans and the Abbotts, who oversee a cosmetics conglomerate in Genoa City.

Over the years, the show has added more characters and families, such as the Fenmores, Baldwins and Winters. The show remains the highest rated drama on daytime television in the United States.

In 1987, the show spun off another daytime soap based in Los Angeles, “The Bold and the Beautiful,’’ which typically broadcasts after “The Young and the Restless.”

Tickets for the event start at $30 and can be bought online at Ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-653-8000.

Tickets also can be bought the day of the event beginning at 1 p.m. in the casino’s Pavilion box, 5550 NW 40th St., Coconut Creek.
