The folks at the BB&T Center are hosting a “major concert announcement” at 11 a.m. Thursday, with an extra tight seal on lips that are sometimes loose with these kinds of things.
“A big name who has not played here in a long time,” is all we’ve gotten.
The mind reels, of course. Broward County Vice Mayor Barbara Sharief will be there for the announcement in the swank Club RED By Stoli room, as will Michael Yormark, president and CEO of Sunrise Sports & Entertainment (and the Florida Panthers). So we’re thinking it’s not a reunion of NWA.
A Pink Floyd detente? Ted Cruz and the Dixie Chicks will be doing a date night first. McCartney was just here. Ronnie Wood just told the Sun newspaper in Britain that the Rolling Stones will going back on the road beginning in February. I’m a big fan, but … meh?
Who could it be? Who do you want it to be? Zeppelin? Eminem? Streisand? Garth Brooks? George Strait? Kajagoogoo?
We’ll find out Thursday.Copyright © 2015, South Florida
