Charismatic R&B showman Charlie Wilson will bring music from his new album, “In It To Win It,” to Hard Rock Live in Hollywood on May 11.
Wilson, who came to fame as a co-founder of funk icons the Gap Band, best known for sexy classics “You Dropped a Bomb on Me,” “Early in the Morning” and “Burn Rubber on Me,” can fill his set list with eight Billboard No. 1 singles from four Top 10 Billboard albums.
His latest release includes contributions from high-profile fans such as Snoop Dogg, Robin Thicke, Lalah Hathaway, Pitbull, Wiz Khalifa and T.I., who performs on the single “I’m Blessed.”
The song is a testimony to Wilson’s optimistic candor and determination in overcoming drug addiction, homelessness and prostate cancer, themes explored in his 2015 memoir, “I Am Charlie Wilson.”
In a statement about the song, Wilson said, “I'm Blessed” represents “exactly where I am in my life, blessed to still be making music that people want to hear. 2016 has been a tough year for so many people around the world, and I am proud to release a song that reminds us that we can all find some blessings in our lives."
