Dave Matthews Band summer tour coming to West Palm Beach

The Dave Matthews Band will play two shows at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach on its just-announced summer tour.

The performances on July 19-20 make South Florida one of just a handful of markets hosting multinight tour stops. The only other Florida date scheduled so far is July 17 in Tampa.

The tour is in support of DMB’s latest album, the Steve Lillywhite-produced “Away From the World,” which Rolling Stone named one of the top 50 albums of 2012.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m.  March 22, but a presale for members of the DMB Warehouse Fan Association begins at 10 a.m. Thursday at For more tour information go to

Of more immediate interest to Dave Matthews fans may be an appearance by the band’s violinist, Boyd Tinsley, at a Thursday night screening of his film “Faces in the Mirror”  at Soho Beach House (4385 Collins Ave., Miami Beach). Tinsley will attend and follow the 7 p.m. screening with a performance.

“Faces in the Mirror” is an experimental film based on a score that Tinsley and his bandmates recorded over a five-day period in Seattle. The story follows a young man’s (Ryan Orr) dream-like search for forgiveness on the day he buries his estranged father.  Tinsley describes it as a “modern-day silent picture,” and Rolling Stone magazine called it “riveting.”

Tickets to the “Faces in the Mirror” screening are $10 at
