One-time One Direction Svengali Simon Cowell and former Menudo heartthrob Ricky Martin will bring their search for “the ultimate Latino boy band” to Miami with open-call auditions for Univision’s “La Banda” on Saturday, April 11.
The auditions will take place at the Hilton Miami Downtown hotel (1601 Biscayne Blvd.), and are open to U.S. residents 14 and older. On-site registration takes place 8-10 a.m. You also can register online at LaBandaOficial.com.
“La Banda,” scheduled to premiere in September with host Alejandra Espinoza, will end with five winning contestants forming a singing group that will be signed to a recording contract with Sony Music Latin and Cowell’s Syco Music, the label that created One Direction.
Martin, a co-executive producer on the show with Cowell, will be a judge on “La Banda” and manage the new band.
A series of cross-country auditions, which began last month in Los Angeles, includes stops in Puerto Rico, New York, Chicago and Houston. The show also is looking at talent online via Facebook, Instagram and Vine with the hashtag #AudicionesLaBanda. More information: LaBandaOficial.com.
