Miami Book Fair kicks off with thriller novelist Dan Brown

The massively popular Dan Brown, author of thrilling word puzzles such as “The Da Vinci Code,” “The Lost Symbol” and “Inferno,” is the people-pleasing headliner kicking off the 30th annual Miami Book Fair International on Nov. 17.

Tickets for Brown’s 7:30 p.m. appearance at the Olympia Theater at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts (174 E Flagler St, Miami) go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday at Price: $15.

The lineup for MBFI’s popular “Evenings With...” readings is still coming together, but will include evenings with Erica Jong paired with Jennifer Weiner; Pat Conroy and Cassandra King; as well as Sherman Alexie, Reza Azlan, Wally Lamb, Rep. John Lewis, Terry McMillan and Anjelica Huston.

Tickets to Huston’s event, focused on her new memoir, “A Story Lately Told: Coming of Age in Ireland, London and New York,” are $40.

Other “Evenings With …” tickets are $15, and go on sale 10 a.m. Nov. 4 (members on Oct. 28) at

The MBFI’s 30th anniversary celebration features a series of advance events, including readings sponsored by Books and Books in Coral Gables by Sir Salman Rushdie (Sept. 26), Nicholas Sparks (Sept. 30),  Elizabeth Gilbert (Oct. 9),  Billy Collins (Oct. 24),  Helen Fielding (Nov. 2) and Donna Tartt (Nov. 6).

The Rushdie, Sparks and Gilbert events require tickets, which are $10, or a pair free when you buy a book. The Collins and Tartt readings require no tickets. Fielding tickets and location are still being determined. For more information, go to
