Sure, that guy you’re marrying has always been Mr. Adventure. That mountain-climbing, free-diving, Ironman-running, Red Bull-chugging, MMA-watching, Hemingway-reading (oops, just kidding) guy’s guy, always strutting around with those neatly shaved calves. He’s sure got a set of b… Bull sharks! The Bimini Big Game Club Resort and Marina wants to see if he’s got the stones to get married in a cage surrounded by bull sharks.
The historic island resort about 50 miles east of Fort Lauderdale is holding a contest to find a couple willing to hold a wedding ceremony in the resort’s Bimini Bull Run shark encounter cage, which is attached to the dock at the marina. Captain Devito Bullard, the resort’s dive boat captain, will conduct the ceremony.
The winning couple will get complimentary roundtrip Tropic Ocean Airways seaplane travel from Fort Lauderdale, four nights in the resort’s Hemingway Suite and free food and beverages. The wedding will be scheduled in October.
To take part, couples need to submit a video at Facebook.com/BiminiBigGameClub and make your best case for why you should be chosen.
For a ceremony that skews more lavish than liquid, the Riverside Hotel in downtown Fort Lauderdale will gather some of South Florida’s top wedding vendors on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. for its free Wine.Wedding.Wednesday. reception. There you can enjoy complimentary wines and hors d’oeuvres while checking out the latest in nuptial elegance.
They’ve pretty much thought of everything. Not only will you find displays from Ana Paz Cakes and Ann’s Florist, the Encore Chamber Players and Escarda-Miline Photography, you’ll also find representatives from chocolatier Kilwin’s Las Olas vying for your attention with those from SCS Weight Loss.
