That smoke on the horizon is the High Road Summer Tour, a 33-city journey across North America by platinum-selling hip-hop stars Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa, opening July 20 at the Perfect Vodka Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach.
Tickets cost $22-$118 and go on sale noon Friday at LiveNation.com and all Ticketmaster outlets. A fan-club presale runs through 10 p.m. Thursday at the marijuana-culture site MerryJane.com. Advance tickets also will be available through 10 p.m. Thursday via the Live Nation app.
The, ahem, joint performance will be the first tour collaboration for the duo, which has united on such hits as the Grammy-nominated anthem “Young, Wild and Free.” A like-minded posse that includes Kevin Gates, Jhene Aiko, Casey Veggies and DJ Drama will be special guests on all dates on the High Road Summer Tour.
Snoop Dogg, best known for the hits “Gin and Juice,” “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” “Snoop Dogg (What’s My Name)” and “Beautiful,” is expected to release the album “High Definition” this summer. Lately he’s made more news away from music: He was the first celebrity to have a branded line of cannabis products, “Leafs By Snoop,” and his entrepreneurial instincts got him on the cover of AdWeek magazine under the headline “Tech Mogul.”
Khalifa, a Grammy and Golden Globe nominee, has been a multimedia presence since his 2011 album, “Rolling Papers,” offered hits “Black and Yellow,” “Roll Up” and “No Sleep.” His song “See You Again,” from last year’s “Furious 7” soundtrack won three Teen Choice Awards and earned three Grammy nominations. He is scheduled to release the album “Rolling Papers II” during the summer.
