The uplifting partnership of pop icon Sting and Jamaican vocalist Shaggy will perform Sept. 15 at the Fillmore Miami Beach, opening night of the U.S. leg of their 44/876 Tour.
Tickets will cost $104.25 (general-admission) and $160.25 (reserved), going on sale 10 a.m. Thursday, May 24, at the Fillmore box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, including Ticketmaster.com and by calling 800-745-3000. A presale for Sting fan-club members begins Monday, May 21. Visit Sting.com/Tour for more information.
Beginning with a series of summer dates in Europe, the tour supports the duo’s album “44/876” (A&M/Interscope Records), which features island-flavored collaborations on popular songs by each performer, including “Every Breath You Take,” “Englishman in New York,” “Message in a Bottle,” “It Wasn’t Me,” “Mr. Boombastic” and “Angel.”
Sting and Shaggy first paid tribute to the influence of Caribbean music on “Don't Make Me Wait.” Its popularity — debuting at No. 1 on Billboard’s digital reggae singles chart — prompted the album that takes its title from their homelands’ respective telephone country codes (44 for the UK, where Sting was born, and 876 for Jamaica). Every online ticket purchase includes one physical or digital copy of “44/876.”
Sting and Shaggy will perform in New York’s Central Park for the “Good Morning America” Summer Concert Series on May 25, the day an album titled “44/876: The Remixes” is released. The record includes contributions from Chris Baio of Vampire Weekend, the Brazilian duo Tropkillaz, Cherry Cherry Boom Boom and Grammy-award winning producer Dave Audé, among others.
