Ticket alert: Brantley Gilbert leading country stars to Miami

The inaugural Tequila Bay Country Music Festival will put a bro-country exclamation point on the summer, bringing Brantley Gilbert, Kip Moore, Montgomery Gentry, Tyler Farr and others to Miami Marine Stadium Park on Labor Day Weekend.

Advance tickets for the Sunday, Sept. 3, concert are on sale now at TequilaBayFest.com. Prices start at $55 (plus fees), with an early-bird discount of $5 off available through Sunday, July 9. Use the promo code EXTGA. Two levels of VIP tickets also are available, for $115 (take $16 off with promo code EXTVIP1) and $150 ($25 off with promo code EXTVIP2).

Running from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the venerable stadium on picturesque Virginia Key, the festival is sponsored by country radio station Kiss, 99.9-FM.

More acts are expected to be named to the lineup, which is Miami’s first major country-music festival in recent memory. While there is clearly an appetite for Nashville stars in South Florida, and Labor Day Weekend seems like a good spot on the calendar, the Tequila Bay festival would benefit from some diversity.

The 5-year-old Tortuga Music Festival at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park has drawn many attendees from the Miami area with a mix of country hunks, rock and Americana acts, and spunky female performers such as Kelsea Ballerini, Elle King and Maren Morris. While setting attendance records each April, Tortuga has become the gold standard not only for local country events, but nationally: It was recently named the Academy of Country Music’s Festival of the Year.
