Tom Petty in West Palm Beach: Get tickets Saturday

The coming 2014 concert lineup in South Florida offers a windfall of performances by songwriters who seem of the same tribe, hewing to the same winding path, flying the same flag striped with an unapologetic literacy and sincerity.

Among them are Ray LaMontagne (Fillmore, July 12), Dave Matthews (Cruzan, July 18-19), Gavin DeGraw (Hard Rock Live, July 30), Crosby, Stills and Nash (Broward Center, Aug. 6), Tori Amos (Fillmore, Aug. 24), Kings of Leon (Cruzan, Sept. 6), Caetano Veloso (Fillmore, Sept. 13) and Fleetwood Mac (BB&T Center, Dec. 19).

We can now add to that list Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, who will bring their North American tour to the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach on Sept. 20. The tour, with opening act Steve Winwood, supports “Hypnotic Eye,” the Heartbreakers’ first studio album since 2010’s “Mojo.”

Petty told the music website HitFix the album goes back to the Gainesville native’s early sound.

“I just kind of go where the wind blows me musically,” he said. “I think it’s a very special record, and it’s certainly rock ’n’ roll. It’s very electric. No ballads. It’s a rocker.”

Tickets will cost $25-$131 and go on sale 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Cruzan box office (601-7 Sansburys Way, West Palm Beach),, all Ticketmaster outlets and 800-745-3000. Every ticket will include a copy of “Hypnotic Eye,” scheduled for release July 29.
