Do you have what it takes to be a VolleyGirl?

The tournament may have a cumbersome new name, but the Delray Beach Open by The Venetian Las Vegas will still need the graceful charm of the VolleyGirls.

Applications are now being accepted for the promotional team of young women who will function as ambassadors for the ATP World Tour and ATP Champions Tour event, which runs Feb. 14-23, and will feature the return of hometown favorite Andy Roddick.

Now in its eighth year, the VolleyGirls squad attends private sponsor parties, makes PR appearances with players on TV and radio, and at other events around Palm Beach County. The VolleyGirls must be at least 18 years old and exude a “sporty, electric, professional, engaging” personality. New this year is a desire to find women with a dance background.

There will be 10-15 team members, who will be paid for all appearances.

“When we started the VolleyGirl campaign in 2007, we thought it would be popular, but never realized the extent to which these girls became the iconic figures of the event they did,” blurbed John Butler, executive director of the event once known as the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships. “Now they’ve received national recognition, endorsement deals with incredible fashion boutiques and make-up lines … It’s all just exploded in such a fantastic way.”

Applications are being accepted through Nov. 15 at, and tryouts (which include a dance routine) will be held Nov. 22.
