1. They had their day

Last Friday was National Dog Day, and to celebrate, my dogs did what they always do: woke my house up at 5:30 in the morning, contemplated the mystery of the front door, re-declared war on the neighborhood squirrels -- with good cause, I should add -- and took 17 naps. On Fort Lauderdale beach, Barbara Corbellini Duarte and Talia J. Medina found dogs enjoying the day with a blissful ignorance known only to the species and most of your Facebook friends. View Duarte's and Medina's photos here.

2. Seconds? Ha!

Veenuthri Trisransri is known on the Miami restaurant scene as Chef Bas. But after a nightmarish visit to Trisransri's Lung Yai restaurant on Eighth Street, Eat Beat blogger Michael Mayo has a new nickname for the chef-owner: the Thai Tapas Tyrant. I'll allow Mayo to explain why.

3. Iggy and the Stones

Don't get your hopes up: Iggy Pop and the Rolling Stones have not formed the supergroup to end all supergroups. They will, however, be sharing cinema space in Miami at GEMS 2016, a four-day film festival set to feature Jim Jarmusch's Pop portrait "Gimme Danger" and Paul Dugdale's tour document "The Rolling Stones Olé Olé Olé!: A Trip Across Latin America." Ben Crandell has the details.

Tickets went on sale this weekend for a host of Broadway shows bound for Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. Rod Stafford Hagwood tells you how to get them.
