Retro market goes west

Hipsters, head west.

The popular City-Wide Market is hauling its cool collection of indie crafts, vintage and retro goods to Coral Springs this weekend. The market will set up inside the city's gymnasium from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

"About 90 vendors from South Florida will fill the 30,000-square-foot space with vintage goods and toys, antiques, jewelry and collectibles," says Chris Gaidry, who organizes the sales with girlfriend Amanda Weiner. "Our people also sell Americana, midcentury-modern furniture and art, a real eclectic mix of stuff. It's a pretty wide spectrum."

Gaidry and Weiner organize the popular indie-craft market events inside War Memorial Auditorium and around downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Shoppers also can visit the booth and donate to the nonprofit Grateful Paws Dog and Cat Rescue.

"We are trying to spread out so that people in Weston, Pembroke Pines and Coconut Creek can shop and see all the high-quality merchandise we have," Gaidry says. "Everything's made right here in the U.S.A. and well made."

Indie Craft Bazaar and City-Wide Market events in Fort Lauderdale will be held in October, he says.

"Our event's totally free, and it's all indoors and air-conditioned. The gym is inside Mullins Park in Coral Springs, so people can really make a day of it."

City-Wide Market will be held Saturday and Sunday in the Coral Springs Gymnasium, 2501 Coral Springs Drive. Call 954-785-7475 or go to Admission and parking are free.
