The Kravis Center will get festive tonight with a performance by contemporary gospel singers performing "The Colors of Christmas" at 7:30 p.m. Peabo Bryson, James Ingram, Marilyn McCoo, Billy Davis Jr. and Stephanie Mills will perform Christmas classics backed by a gospel choir. Each artist will perform some of their individual works, as well. ($25-$100, Kravis.org)
The Culture Room takes a less-celebratory approach to the holiday, having chosen to book Led Zeppelin tribute band Zoso for 7:30 p.m. Thursday ($17.55, Ticketmaster.com), and homegrown jam rockers the Heavy Pets at 8 p.m. Friday. ($17.55, Ticketmaster.com) The Pets' show is part of the Culture Room's End of the World Party.
The Fort Lauderdale venue isn't the only one paying homage to the Mayan-inspired myth: In Miami, Grand Central will host its End of Days party Friday at 11 p.m., almost missing the last-day-on-Earth mark. Music will be provided by local hipster favorites such as the poppy group Little Beard and indie-prog duo Deaf Poets. For guests 21 and older, entry to the show can be free in exchange for a tweet or a Facebook post. (GrandCentralMiami.com)
And on Saturday, former "American Idol" contestant and country-pop sweetheart Carrie Underwood will bring her Blown Away tour to the BB&T Center at 7:30 p.m. ($57-$78.25, Ticketmaster.com)Copyright © 2015, South Florida
