Donna Tartt at Wolfson Campus Auditorium

Donna Tartt: In an interview with the New York Times, the reclusive novelist behind the bestsellers "The Secret History" and "The Little Friend" says she was a lifelong keeper of notebooks, and that she dodges most interviews and panels and readings. Her new book, "The Goldfinch," draws from 20-year-old material handwritten during trips to Amsterdam, and centers on a New York boy whose trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art is disrupted by a terrorist bomb. Research for Tartt's 771-page novel was done almost entirely in the New York Public Library. Her appearance at Miami-Dade College's Wolfson Campus Auditorium (300 NE Second Ave., Miami) will take place at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. 305-442-4408 or — Phillip Valys
