To do Thursday: Hard Rock Poker, Will and Jaden Smith appearance and a Seminole Pow-wow

Hard Rock Poker: The main event of the Seminole Deep Stack Poker Classic starts at 11 a.m. today, and while participants get a lot of chips (50,000), they also need a lot of cash to play. The buy-in costs $1,650 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Poker Room. The tournament carries a $300,000 guarantee, and players can enter at 11 a.m. today, Friday or Saturday. The tournament continues on Sunday and Monday. — Nick Sortal

"After Earth" special event: The sci-fi thriller starring Will Smith and his son Jaden won't be released until May 31, but fans of the father-son duo can catch them in person Thursday at the Miami Science Museum (3280 South Miami Ave.). The Smiths are hyping the M. Night Shyamalan-directed film with a 5-8 p.m. event that includes a red-carpet walk, a rock-climbing wall, a temporary-tattoo station, food trucks and other activities. At 6:30 p.m., Will and Jaden plan to discuss the blockbuster, set on a post-apocalyptic Earth, on a stage erected outside the museum. Free, including museum admission. 305-646-4200 or — Phillip Valys

Seminole Okalee Indian Village Pow-wow: The Hard Rock is showcasing the histories of the Seminoles and seven other Native American tribes beginning Thursday at this three-day festival and, yes, there will be alligator-wrestling. Throughout the weekend, Seminole competitors will be testing their brute-force showmanship while tangling with reptiles, as well as compete in the comparatively testosterone-light sport of dancing. Native American vendors will sell arts and crafts and traditional Seminole dishes, and offer wildlife and snake shows. 10 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m-9:30 p.m. Saturday. $8-$12. 954-797-5582 or — Phillip Valys
