To do Thursday: "Jekyll and Hyde," International Design and a Sylvester listening party

Sylvester Listening Party: We Got The Beats record store is throwing a listening party today from 5 to 9 p.m. in Oakland Park for late great disco star Sylvester and the compilation album "Mighty Real: Greatest Dance Hits," due out June 25. For the uninitiated, Sylvester was an openly gay star from his heyday in the '70s until his death in 1988, crossing boundaries of race and gender through dance music. The party is free and open to the public. We Got The Beats is at 2900 N. Dixie Highway, Suite 201 (The Trestle Building). Contact: 954-671-9482 or – Rod Stafford Hagwood

"Jekyll and Hyde": The musical thriller staged by Andrews Living Arts in downtown Fort Lauderdale's F.A.T. Village opens tonight for a two-week run. The show – based on the original Robert Louis Stevenson Victorian-era story about a scientist trying to separate good from evil in his psyche – includes hits "This Is the Moment" and "A New Life." Andrews Living Arts is at 23 NW Fifth St., Fort Lauderdale. Curtain is at 8 p.m. Tickets are $29.95 for adults; $24.95 for seniors and $19.95 for students with I.D. Contact: 800-838-3006 or – Rod Stafford Hagwood

International Design @ DCOTA: The Design Center of the Americas in Dania Beach holds its annual spate of interior design seminars, presentations, panel discussions and parties beginning today through next Thursday. Tonight there will be cooking demonstrations from innovative South Floridian chefs. The event is free and open to the public, but you must RSVP at 954-920-7997, ext. 240. – Rod Stafford Hagwood
