To do Wednesday: Funkshion Fashion Week, DJ Brimstone and Leonard Cohen

Fashion

Funkshion Fashion Week Miami Beach: Yup, there are two fashion weeks strutting it out in Miami Beach. Funkshion Fashion Week Miami Beach is taking place Wednesday through Friday in tents set up in Collins Park at 21st Street and Collins Avenue (between the W and Setai hotels). Just a few blocks east at the Miami Beach Convention Center is Miami Fashion Week. The difference? Funkshion is free and open to the public, as long as you RSVP by emailing collins@funkshion.com. For more information and an updated schedule, go to Funkshion.com and click on the "Fashion Week" tab near the top of the page. — Rod Stafford Hagwood

Music

Leonard Cohen: The 78-year-old singer-songwriter carries the enduringly cool swagger of someone 50 years his junior. Clad in a dark suit and fedora, Cohen will no doubt deliver an indulgent, three-hour-plus dive into his lengthy songbook at the James L. Knight Center on Wednesday. If dispatches from Cohen's recent North American tour stops are to be believed, then casual fans of the poet with a brooding baritone should expect to hear "Take This Waltz," "Everybody Knows," "I'm Your Man," "Bird on a Wire" and, yes, even "Hallelujah. " Showtime is 8 p.m. $35-$275. 305-416-5970 or Jlkc.com. — Phillip Valys

DJ Brimstone: You can't turn around without tripping over a DJ during Winter Music Conference, but as everyone is zigging, the creative programmers at the Betsy Hotel (1440 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach) will zag. DJ Brimstone is the nom de vinyl of Miami poet, activist and educator Seth Schere, who will offer an evening of sounds that subvert WMC cliches in that polysyllabic way the Betsy is famous for. Admission is free. Music starts at 8 p.m. 305-673-0044 or TheBetsyHotel.com. — Ben Crandell
