To do Wednesday: An evening with Geraldo Rivera, Ride of Silence and "Star Trek" costume contest

An Evening With Geraldo Rivera: The Sport of Kings Room at Gulfstream Park will be the setting as right-leaning radio royalty — Rivera and longtime South Florida talk-show host Joyce Kaufman of WFTL Big Talk 850-AM — entertain each other and an audience (there will be a Q&A) beginning at 7:30 p.m. Rivera will broadcast his nationally syndicated radio show from WFTL's Pompano Beach studios Wednesday and Thursday mornings (delayed broadcasts will be heard at 6 p.m. on WFTL). Tickets for the Gulfstream event are free, but will be given away exclusively on WTFL today. Kaufman's show airs 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Gulfstream Park is at 901 S. Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach. — Ben Crandell

Ride of Silence: Bicyclists are invited to gather at one of three spots in South Florida Wednesday as part of the worldwide Ride of Silence. The event will honor people killed or injured while cycling. Organizers say it is to encourage motorists to share the road. At least 340 rides of about 10 to 14 miles will take place in the United States. South Florida's ride will begin 6 p.m. at Markham Park, 16001 W. State Road 84, in Sunrise; 6:30 p.m. at the Miami Science Museum parking lot, 3280 S. Miami Ave.; and 7 p.m. at the Arts Garage, 180 NE First St., in Delray Beach. — Nick Sortal

"Star Trek Into Darkness" costume contest: Here's the perfect opportunity to dust off your Vulcan ears. The sequel to J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" reboot opens Thursday in theaters, but Trekkies can catch an IMAX screening of the film at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Frank Theatres CineBowl and Grille at Delray Marketplace (14775 Lyons Road). The queues will be crammed with fans dressed as Romulans, Starfleet officers, redshirts and Klingons, each vying for a best-dressed award that includes a pair of free IMAX tickets, one hour of bowling and dinner for two at the venue's Red Brick Grille. That means you'll need a matching pair of Spock ears for your date. Contest begins at 7 p.m. 561-454-8002 or — Phillip Valys
