Dining

Wine specials: Lots of restaurants offer wine deals, but starting this week through Aug. 25, everything on the wine list at Macaroni Grill is half price. Everything. There are some decent bottles regularly priced at $28 (now $14) and many glasses now priced at $3. The best deal may be the Tuscan Antinori Chianti Classico called Pèppoli. Normally priced at $48 a bottle, this great red from one of Tuscany's great wineries costs $24 all summer long. — John Tanasychuk

Fundraising

A Moonlit Affair: In May, Fort Lauderdale's CRA handed a $30,000 grant to Flagler Village Community Garden to spruce up the industrial pocket of FAT Village with its first-ever green garden. Groundbreaking on the community space will begin in late summer, but builders are toasting the new project early with an outdoor summer party in the vacant lot at 441 NE Third Ave., soon to be filled with herbs and vegetables. Wednesday's 7-10 p.m. fundraiser will include a silent auction, cocktails by Zonin Prosecco, hors d'oeuvres by Whole Foods Market and DJ sets by PJ Ware. $30-$35, with proceeds heading to phase two of the construction project. 954-275-1563 or "like" Flagler Village Community Garden on Facebook. — Phillip Valys

Music

The Tallest Man on Earth: Born Kristian Matsson 30 years ago in Dalarna, Sweden, the Tallest Man on Earth has developed a following no one could have predicted, thanks to his nimble guitar-picking, lonesome vocals and precisely crafted songs about dreams and birds. His acolytes will mass at 7:30 p.m. at the Culture Room (3045 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale). Strand of Oaks will open. $18. 954-564-1074 or CultureRoom.net. — Ben Crandell
