To do Wednesday: National Martini Day, Wheelin' and Winnin' and the American Black Film Festival


National Martini Day: Yes, there's now a day for everything, and today is National Martini Day. All six Brio Tuscan Grille South Florida locations are marking the momentous occasion with select martinis priced at $5. Regular prices are $7.75 to $8.50. Today's offerings include the Flirtini (Sobiesky raspberry vodka, 03 orange liqueur, cranberry and pineapple juices topped with prosecco) and the Lemon Basil Crush martini (Sobiesky Cytron vodka, crushed basil and lemon juice served in a chilled, sugar-rimmed glass). Wheelin' and Winnin': You can see plenty of spinning wheels at most casinos, and today, you can see one more at Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino (901 S. Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach, 954-454-7000, Players who earn 40 slot points are eligible to spin a wheel that rewards anywhere from $10 in free play to $1,000 in cash. American Black Film Festival: The five-day film festival returns to South Florida Wednesday night with the screening of "The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete" at 5:15 and 8:30 p.m. at the Colony Theater in Miami Beach. The ABFF takes place in six venues in Miami, including the Ritz-Carlton, the SLS Hotel, the Miami Beach Cinematheque and the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts. The closing party will take place at Club Play. The passes are sold-out, but tickets to individual screenings at the Colony and the Cinematheque cost $12. — Rod Stafford Hagwood
