"Sound City": The Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl loves the fabled Southern California recording studio of the title, and he's not the only one. Among the motley band of admirers in the Grohl-hosted documentary are Tom Petty, Paul McCartney, James Brown, Neil Young, Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Trent Reznor, Lars Ulrich, Rivers Cuomo, John Fogerty, Lee Ving and, yes, Barry Manilow. See it at 6 and 8:30 p.m. at the Crest Theatre (51 N. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach). $8. Cash bar and concessions will be available. 561-243-7922 or DelrayCenterForTheArts.org. — Ben Crandell

Books

Patricia Engel: The University of Miami creative writing instructor's new novel, "It's Not Love, It's Just Paris," is so brimming with vivid detail you can almost taste the warm croissants and foamy café. But France's bitter, xenophobic politics also hang troublingly in the air. Engel will read from her book at 2 p.m. in the Broward County Main Library (100 S. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale). Admission is free. Light refreshments will be served. 954-357-7386 or BrowardLibrary.org. — Ben Crandell

Drinks

Havana Nights: The Boca Raton Museum of Art will be the setting of Wednesday's Latin-flavored mixer, combining the high-minded luxuriance of Mizner Park with a warm appreciation for Cuban heritage. The event, celebrating South Florida's Cuban culture during the city's monthlong Boca Chamber Festival Days, has refreshing mojitos and salsa-dancing lessons on the menu, as well as a guided tour of the museum's Cuban artists in the galleries. Begins 5:30 p.m. at the museum's sculpture garden, and continues through 8 p.m. $8-$12 for members, $8-$18 for nonmembers. 561-392-2500 ext. 208, or BocaMuseum.org. — Phillip Valys
