Hollywood bar (again) pays your tab if Miami Heat lose

Don’t call them bandwagon jumpers, because Whiskey Tango has been putting money on the Super Friends since the beginning.

The Hollywood bar that took a $100,000 beating on this promotion in 2010, will again pay your bar tab (up to $25) if you are there when the Miami Heat lose another game for the rest of the season.

Whiskey Tango first unveiled the promotion after LeBron James and Chris Bosh joined Dwyane Wade on the Heat before the 2010-2011 season. As you’ll recall, before making the NBA Finals that season,  the unbeatable trio stumbled out of the gate and went on to post a relatively  unremarkable 58-24 record, which Whiskey Tango owner John Todora said cost him $100,000 in free drinks.

But there’s nothing like an 18-game winning streak to get people excited.

“We think they can go undefeated the rest of the way, and we are going to put our money where our mouth is!” wrote Whiskey Tango’s Amanda Felix in an email.

The drill is the same: Be there 30 minutes before tip-off and sign up with your server. Watch the game on one of their 32 TVs, and if the Heat lose, you get a gift certificate worth $25. It must be redeemed that night (and has no cash value so, no, you don’t get change).

The Heat’s next game is tonight at home against Atlanta. Smells like a win. If you are looking for a loss, you might circle these dates: March 18 (at Boston), March 27 (at Chicago) and March 31 (at San Antonio).

Whiskey Tango All American Bar & Grill is at 1903 Hollywood Blvd. Info: WhiskeyTangoFL.com, 954-925-2555.
