Action star Jason Statham will be at the Muvico Parisian at CityPlace (545 Hibiscus St., West Palm Beach) Friday night for the premiere of the crime thriller “Parker,” much of which was filmed in Palm Beach and West Palm Beach. Statham will be joined at the 7:30 p.m. red-carpet ceremony by Oscar-winning director Taylor Hackford.
The sneak-peek screening is open to the public for $30 general admission, $50 reserved seating, with proceeds benefitting the Palm Beach Film Institute. Info: 561-233-3108.
Local residents may recall catching glimpses of Statham and co-star Jennifer Lopez filming in the area, or at least they remember being caught in the bridge-raising, traffic-jamming wake of the shoot, which took place in fall 2011. So consider this a little payback.
The film, based on the Donald Westlake novel “Flashfire,” also features Michael Chiklis, Wendell Pierce and Nick Nolte. It opens in theaters nationwide on Jan. 25. Info: ParkerMovie.com.
