Fresh off his Grammy Award on Sunday for the Miami Beach-recorded “Juanes: MTV Unplugged” album, international Latin rock star Juanes announced a tour that, for now, includes a single South Florida performance: June 27 at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood.
Tickets are expected to go on sale March 23 and should be in line with what is being asked at Ticketmaster.com for a June 28 performance at the Hard Rock in Orlando: $55.10-$277 for general admission standing on the floor, $85.80-$111.40 for reserved seats.
Juanes, whose Grammy night was memorable for a bilingual version of Elton John’s classic ballad “Your Song,” will also be publicizing another new release with the tour: a memoir titled “Chasing the Sun,” due in stores April 2.
The book, due in a Spanish-language version titled “Persiguiendo el sol,” will be published by the Penguin imprint Celebra. According to his publisher, Juanes's book reveals stories behind the creation and disbanding of Colombia’s leading hard-rock band, Ekhymosis; the evolution of his solo career into a global music powerhouse; his marriage to actress/model Karen Martinez; and the effects of witnessing corruption and violence in his hometown, Medellin.
Juanes, a Key Biscayne resident, is one of the Spanish-speaking world’s leading social-media voices with more than 10 million followers. He is well known for his human rights and charitable work with his own Mi Sangre Foundation and as a co-founder of the "Paz sin Fronteras" (Peace Without Borders) organization.
In publicity material, Juanes writes: "This [book] is an expression of pure friendship and a sincere way of saying thanks to everyone who has supported my music over the years. It’s not my job to write books, not in the least,…But I felt that if I really did this, it would be for you to learn who I truly am: who it is behind the songs you hear, why I make the music I make, and why I think the way I think.”
“Juanes: MTV Unplugged,” recorded last February at the New World Center on Miami Beach, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart, and the single “La Señal” also hit the top spot on the Hot Latin Songs chart, the singer’s eighth No. 1 song.
