Polarizing shock-rocker Marilyn Manson’s carefully plotted career arc, which began in the festering boil of the nascent South Florida punk-metal scene at clubs such as Squeeze, the Button South and the Edge (now known as Revolution Live), has led exactly where you thought it would.
Well, that is if you guessed that 20 years later Manson would be the face of Saint Laurent Paris and a muse for one-time mall-punk queen Avril Lavigne.
Manson, who will be heard on Lavigne’s upcoming summer release and seen in an imminent ad campaign for the luxury French fashion house (once known as Yves Saint Laurent), is also testing his ticket-selling capacity with a new tour that stops at the Fillmore Miami Beach on July 21.
Manson’s 2012 release, “Born Villain,” and the single, “No Reflection,” were well received (“Album of the Year!” Loudwire blared), but we’ll also see how kind time has been to “The Dope Show,” “The Beautiful People” and the Eurythmics cover “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This).”
Tickets for the all-ages show cost $45.50 (general admission) and $65 (reserved), and will go on sale 10 a.m. Friday at the box office (1700 Washington Ave., Miami Beach), LiveNation.com and all Ticketmaster outlets. Picture Me Broken will open the show.
